Donation & Refund Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2027

Mia’s Canine Cancer Foundation is grateful for every gift made in support of our mission. Because charitable donations are generally intended as final gifts to the Foundation, donations are ordinarily non-refundable. We recognize, however, that mistakes can happen.

1. Accidental or Duplicate Donations

If you believe a donation was made in error, entered in the wrong amount, or processed more than once, contact us as soon as possible at miasccf@gmail.com. Refund requests should identify the donor, donation date, amount, and reason for the request.

Mia’s CCF will review reasonable requests for accidental or duplicate donations. Approved refunds will generally be returned to the original payment method when feasible. Payment-processor rules, timing, or fees may affect how and when a refund can be completed.

2. Refund Request Window

We ask that refund requests for accidental or duplicate online donations be submitted within 30 days of the donation. Requests received later may still be reviewed when circumstances reasonably warrant, but a refund is not guaranteed.

3. Recurring Donations

Donors may cancel future recurring donations at any time through the applicable donation platform, if that option is available, or by contacting Mia’s CCF. Please allow reasonable processing time before the next scheduled charge. Canceling a recurring donation stops future charges but does not automatically refund donations already processed.

If a recurring donation was processed after a timely cancellation request due to an administrative or processing error, contact us so we can review the transaction.

4. Tribute and Memorial Gifts

A donation made in honor or memory of a person or animal is generally subject to the same refund rules as other donations. If tribute information was entered incorrectly, contact us and we will make reasonable efforts to correct our records or notification.

5. Restricted or Designated Gifts

Unless Mia’s CCF expressly accepts a legally restricted gift in writing, online comments, tribute messages, or donor preferences do not create a legally binding restriction. If the Foundation accepts a restricted gift and later determines that the stated purpose has become impossible, impracticable, unlawful, or inconsistent with the Foundation’s charitable purposes, the Foundation will handle the gift in accordance with applicable law and any governing gift agreement.

6. Tax Receipts and Refunded Donations

If Mia’s CCF issues a charitable donation receipt or acknowledgment and the donation is later refunded, the original acknowledgment should not be used to claim a charitable deduction for the refunded amount. Mia’s CCF may issue updated records when appropriate. Donors are responsible for consulting their own tax advisers regarding the tax treatment of contributions and refunds.

7. Event Fees, Merchandise, Sponsorships, and Other Payments

This policy primarily addresses charitable donations. Event registrations, merchandise purchases, sponsorships, or other payments may have separate cancellation and refund terms because goods, services, benefits, or event costs may be involved. Any applicable terms will be provided with the specific offering.

8. Tax-Deductibility Status

Mia’s CCF will not represent a donation as tax deductible unless and to the extent permitted by applicable law and the Foundation’s federal tax status. Once the Foundation is eligible to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions, donation acknowledgments will be provided in accordance with applicable federal requirements.
